Vanessa 04:17
Remember the days strawberry haze laughing aloud at how we'd changed O Vanessa Sitting in cars looking at stars watching the clouds form perfect hearts O Vanessa You're lost on a river you left us in pain never to be seen again never to be heard laughing in the rain O Vanessa butterfly of the eye O why, why did you leave where did you go you had so much more to give Remember the days strawberry haze laughing aloud at how we'd changed O Vanessa Sitting in cars looking at stars watching the clouds form perfect hearts O Vanessa A hole in my chest As big as the sun burning me everyday I see your smile shining in everyone O Vanessa butterfly of the eye Oh when, when will I see See how to live Without thinking all has gone away And I know the games we played have ended The stories shared abandoned our hands are unbound And I'm sorry that the life from here on after has taken on a sadness disaster in my mind But I still see you in the dark I go for walks at night To find you in the glimmering Cause you are still part of all I am Without you I can't stand Reality is shimmering Remember the days strawberry haze laughing aloud at how we'd changed O Vanessa Sitting in cars looking at stars watching the clouds form perfect hearts O Vanessa how’d it ever get to be so hard?

Come down Come down When I look at you I want to swear Is it love or your long gold hair Hypnotised by your lips of fire Angels singing in some choir Hit me quick I'm almost gone Like a singer in a song Like some singer in some song Big Black Dog On a long dark wind It'll drive you home It'll do you harm Got a long black coat But nowhere to go With a big black dog on a long dark wind Come down Come down Come down Come down When you look at me I feel a pain Is it real or just the rain Mystified by your eyes and bones The rain keeps falling down like stones Save me please I'm nearly gone Like a singer in a song like some singer in some song Well I know that it’s not easy Yeah I know that it's been hard I’ve got to try and forget it That’s the best way I can start And the road may make me weary But I’ve got to carry on Like the singer I’ve been singing of Like the singer in that song Like some singer in some song Come down Come down Come down Come down When I look at you I want to swear Is it love or your long gold hair Hypnotised by your lips of fire Angels singing in some choir Hit me quick I'm almost gone Like a singer in a song Like some singer in some song Big Black Dog On a long dark wind It'll drive you home It'll do you harm Got a long black coat But nowhere to go With a big black dog on a long dark wind Come down Come down Come down Come down

All this time that I lost Carried on, at such cost Should have been something good Must I dream it still could? Behind these bars invisible to me I played my part, a fearless certainty All melted away – now you’re gone The chasm left behind Old mistakes like a spinning wheel Circling pictures on a reel to reel Same old story with a different feel The emptiness of you All this time that I lost Carried on, at such cost Should have been something good Must I dream it still could? I danced the dance, deluded by the trust My epitaph – a world that turned to rust I faded away when you’d gone As poison filled my mind Old love letters in a dusty box One year ends, will another start? Same old story needs a different heart I know what I must do All this time devoted to you Forget about it all Tear it down and start anew Now darling I can see That all this time it was me it was me all this time All this time that we had Now it's gone, send it back Could've been something good And I dream it still could All this time that I lost Carried on, at such cost All this time, all this time It was me All this time

Remember 05:03
Remember Remember Remember how it all began Remember Remember Remember how it all began I’m the golden chain, I fasten it Tighten the ends, and there I sit I’m looking down the whole world slips into the night Remember Remember Remember how it all began When I was a child I listened to stories Of magic and wonder ... and of glory No need for conclusion, no future desire The end of all life was the life of a star Now I sit in a corner head in my hands curled up in a ball .. fetal again as I switch on the light, reach for the glass the ache in the head … the past You're the golden ball, you pull on it The numbers fall, another drink The day drones on, you sit and watch The fire go out some day we’ll see what this whole world can be care for each other no matter what creed is it cruel to be kind or just kind to be free it's up to the dreamer to live out the dream Remember Remember Remember how it all began It wasn’t your fault how the world was created hard to forget that the streets are gold-plated but memory fades and time carries on one person's hell is another one's song live on the edges, let go of belief It fractures your mind from what's underneath that’s what important what you really are that’s what the heart is ….. A star We’re the golden boot we'll kick them all the broken shield the crumbling wall let's tear it down and hold out hands to catch the flame Remember Remember Remember how it all began

These changing times These changing times They say will pass They say will pass Right by your door I can't ignore We're on our own We're on our own Yeah I know the score we're nobody Do I find that life is getting easier as I am getting older or am I at the bottom of the mountain pushing up another boulder Never mind the news is here to keep me looking over either shoulder I’ll take another trip and watch the life I had before me slowly smoulder away These changing times These changing times They say will pass They say will pass Right by your door I can't ignore We're on our own We're on our own Yeah you know the score Yeah I know the score we're nobody we're nobody Should I believe the world around is really thinking hard about my future Disregard there's always time to stand around and wait a little longer Every time I hear somebody die it only serves to make me stronger I know that it is hard to fake when everyone is desperate to be younger again Is it so wrong to be happy all the time Bad luck for you but right now I’m doing fine These changing times These changing times They say will pass They say will pass Right by your door Right by my door We're on our own I’m on my own Yeah you know the score Yeah I know the score we're nobody we're nobody These changing times They say will pass I can’t ignore I’m on my own Yeah I know the score I know it all, it's in the stars, knock at the door I’m nobody

Bridegroom 04:37
Illusions of the heart Living in an empty place Sex is an animal Yeah what a pretty face Well now I'm downhearted Creeping from her bedroom Down the stairs to the world of the bridegroom bridegroom dented by nature Edenville, stepping through the broken wall Babylon, moving to an ancient town Shangri-la, drink and you shall never die Avalon, burning on a ship of fools Versions of the past Coming from a lost world Sex was a criminal in the garden of the first girl I walk from the wild woods her image in my head down the hills to the village of the bridegroom bridegroom up against nature Edenville, stepping through the broken wall Babylon, moving to an ancient town Shangri-la, drink and you shall never die Avalon, burning on a ship of fools Abnormal normalities sweet and dark to be wed Desire is a telephone call from a sickbed Seen enough of the doctor the nurse is a goon I'll escape in the moonlight with the green bridegroom bridegroom running from nature Edenville, stepping through the broken wall Babylon, moving to an ancient town Shangri-la, drink and you shall never die Avalon, burning on a ship of fools

You talk of love You walk a while with me The words you speak are in my mind You walk with me In these dark hours saying Love will find Find a way In the blue winter evening You’re the only one ah-ah In the blue blue blue You’re the only one You’re the only one The only one The night will open in the afternoon The night will open in the afternoon What is the heart It lives in secrecy The words it makes are weird We walk, we talk In this blue winter evening Saying there comes a change Change of mind In the blue winter evening You’re the only one ah-ah In the blue blue blue You’re the only one You’re the only one You’re the only one ah-ah The only one In the blue blue blue

Black Crow 04:07
Black crow sit on an old torn fence Black crow pick up the human scent Black crow rip through all pretence Black crow heart leave nothing left ....Kwaa Kwaa ..... Kwaa kwaa kwaa Black crow fly to an old dead tree Black crow walk in the old town light Black crow eye is dark and pretty Black crow head out close to midnight ... Kwaa Kwaa..... Kwaa kwaa kwaa Oo wee I found a feather Resting near my lover's head The dreams are strange and ghostly Replaying all the things she said Black crow stalking the goolie worm Black crow hunt on hallowed ground Black crow find an open window Black crow enter making no sound... Kwaa Kwaa..... Kwaa kwaa kwaa Black crow look at human skull Black crow eye on everything Black crow on my true love's pillow Black crow put me in a spin... Kwaa Kwaa..... Kwaa kwaa kwaa Oo wee you make me crazy I cannot tell what I believe The scarlet lipstick on you Is wiped away and now unseen Yeah now I hear that nighttime ghoul I wish I could forget it deep inside It's taken everything from me my memories have all been cast aside I wish that I could start again I'd do it right, stick to the light And never let you go. Black crow has no faith in love Black crow circling in the skies black crow in the night above Black crow is the king of flies ... Kwaa Kwaa..... Kwaa kwaa kwaa Kwaa Kwaa..... Kwaa kwaa kwaa

I cannot ride the trains back home Now I’ve made it for the sky at last I watch the roads where they disappear To some place beyond the stars Well I can see now as clear as day When I walk amongst the night And I don’t want to drive my car no more Now I’ve seen the neon signs of Mars And I would only I would only I would only be a martyr for you I would only I would only I would only be a martyr for you I can hear the aeroplanes at night Around the cities of the sun Bring your soul to the meeting gates Through deserts and through the rain We’ll never take that train back home Now we’ve made it for the sky at last The roads and the bridges they all disappear To some place beyond the stars And I would only I would only I would only be a martyr for you I would only I would only I would only be a martyr for you Falling from heaven, falling back home Falling from heaven, falling back home

about

" Previously writing with South African legend Ramsay Mackay under the moniker ‘The Fumes of Mars,’ Dennis has just released his first solo album, ‘Remember’ and what a big bold breath of fresh air it is. From beginning (“Superman”) to end (“I Would Only Be A Martyr for You”), the stories, the tales, are flush with bits of Springsteen and Byrne, filled with valor and verve. Of Geldof, of (Mitch) Ryder, of (Roger) Waters and Bono, the sleigh of this 24-carat diamond rushes forth like a modern-day Summer of Soul.

Recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in England, and remotely with producer Norman Arnold utilizing Grammy-nominated musicians in Los Angeles, the album is packed with powerful emotion and an underlying Celtic authenticity and authority. It is a blast of rock with fragments of folk, Americana with a British coat. "
